What began as an idea in Dr. Jeanie Bukowskis first-year LAS seminar has grown into a thriving pollinator garden at 91心頭. Designed and planted by students from a wide range of majorsincluding Biomedical Science, Computer Information Systems, and Mechanical Engineeringthe 10 x 20-foot native plant garden serves as both a sustainability initiative and a hands-on learning opportunity, with plans to expand it to 50 feet in the future.
The projects reach continues to growstudents recently presented their work at The Sustainability Research and Innovation Congress in Chicago and are now partnering with Education majors to develop a curriculum for elementary students, transforming the garden into an outdoor classroom.
As junior Social Work major and Sustainability minor Azariah Evans explained, We think that having a pollinator garden is a good start to a more sustainable and environmentally friendly campus.
